After working with the incredible organization This Star Won’t Go Out, which provides financial assistance to families dealing with life-threatening pediatric cancer, PJ’s for Patients is so excited to announce a TSWGO fundraiser! And we’re doing it with a fall theme: pumpkins! Your purchase of TP pumpkins, which are $6 each or 2 for $10, will benefit the fantastic work that TSWGO does. Learn more about TSWGO here! http://tswgo.org And learn more about our recent pajama collaboration here! https://pjsforpatients.org/2014/10/06/we-3-boston/
These pumpkins are very special for several reasons… first, they’re handmade by members of PJ’s for Patients! Also, they can easily be recycled once the autumnal holidays are over, since they are actually rolls of toilet paper enveloped by fall-colored fabrics and paper bag stems!
Please pick up your very own PJ’s for Patients TP Pumpkin at our two TP Pumpkin Patches located at GPM Pediatrics! The Brooklyn location is on 7715 4th Avenue Brooklyn, and the Staten Island location is on 1779 Richmond Avenue.
Please let us know if you’d like to start your own TP Pumpkin Patch! We would love to collaborate with you. Also, we’re open to school/workplace collaborations, so if you’d like to host a pumpkin sale or PJ dress down, feel free to leave a comment or message us on Facebook!
Last week, PS 124 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, held an amazingly successful pajama dress down day and toy collection for PJ’s for Patients! The generous students and faculty raised $910!!! Proceeds will benefit the child and young adult patients of pediatric cancer facilities and organizations! PS 124’s efforts have already helped us donate over 90 pajamas to Boston Children’s Hospital, This Star Won’t Go Out, and the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute!
We are so appreciative of PS 124’s phenomenal efforts, and look forward to working with them again in the future!
Here’s a link to PS 124’s blog, which contains an adorable video that documents their PJ day!
If you are interested in getting your school or workplace involved in a pajama day or fundraiser of any kind, please leave a comment, or send us a Facebook message!
Hello all! Very many exciting things have happened since our last post, and I have waited for just the right time to share them with you! Before the news updates, I just wanted to mention that yes, it is October! Happy fall! Along with being an all-around awesome month, it is also PJ’s for Patients’s birthday! It’s coming up on the 17th, which is the day we were officially founded last year after receiving our Scholastic grant. Since then, we’ve received so much support through fundraisers, collaborations, and kind words, and have worked with so many wonderful individuals, organizations, schools, and hospitals. To them all, we say thank you!!! We look forward to our second year, and to many years afterwards, until pediatric cancer is completely defeated. We’d also like to give a HUGE thank you to P.S. 214, who held a very successful pajama dress down day and collection last week! A special thanks goes to Andrea, the incredible teacher who found out about us at GPM Pediatrics and organized the school’s drive! We really appreciate your wonderful work; the money raised will be used to purchase pajamas for children seeking cancer treatments in hospitals away from home! Also, PJ’s for Patients has won another grant! Yes; we have been chosen as the YSA Summer of Service Award recipient! All funding from the grant will be used in our pj endeavors! We have also kicked off the month of October with two pajama deliveries!! These deliveries were with completely amazing collaborators from… (drumroll..)…Massachusetts! We made our first delivery with Boston Children’s Hospital on Saturday, where we met the wonderful Darlene from the NIC U! The pajamas, many of which were Halloween themed, will benefit Children’s pediatric oncology patients. We are so proud and enthused to be working with such a phenomenal facility, and look forward to delivering again ASAP! Our second delivery was to This Star Won’t Go Out! I’ve mentioned TSWGO on this blog before, and I’m beyond excited that we’ve finally collaborated! This Star Won’t Go Out is an incredible charity, founded in memory of Esther Earl (find out more about her here! https://pjsforpatients.org/2014/08/03/happy-esther-day/) by her loving family, that provides financial assistance to families with children who have life-threatening cancer. I have admired and wanted to work with TSWGO for SO long, and never cease to be inspired by Esther, whose enthusiasm and love for others are so boldly embodied in the many letters and diary entries found in her book, This Star Won’t Go Out, which encompasses her thoughts and beautiful life. Earlier today, I was able to meet with Lori, Esther’s mom and director of TSWGO, and Emily, a TSWGO intern. It was a pleasure to have met with such kind and inspirational people, and PJ’s for Patients hopes to work with them again in the very near future! These jammies will be given to Children’s Hospital and the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, both of which Esther was treated at. Have a fantastic day! 🙂 <img src=”
