March Deliveries: Sloan and the Ronald McDonald House!

unnamed-1Yesterday, PJ’s for Patients made its March deliveries to the Pediatrics Department of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Ronald McDonald House New York! It’s always so wonderful to visit our New York City partners, which are an integral part of PJ’s for Patients. We have worked with the Sloan Pediatrics Department since last February, when we made our very first pajama delivery! We also love the Ronald McDonald House, an incredible organization that provides housing for families with children receiving life saving medical treatments away from home, and with whom we have collaborated since last summer!

A special thanks to the Kimisis Theotokou school and church for hosting their wonderfully successful pajama collections, which greatly contributed to these two deliveries of almost 100 children and teen pajamas! Also, thanks to my friend Kevin for helping me make the deliveries!

This delivery consisted of a fantastic array of teen guys’ PJ shirts, some of which are posted below for your viewing pleasure!

Happy spring!!

Pajama Day at the Hellenic Classical Charter School!

unnamed-2
unnamedLast Friday, March 13th, the Hellenic Classical Charter School held a successful, comfy, super fun Pajama Day! This PJraiser was in commemoration of the great Dr Seuss, whose birthday was on the 2nd of the month. HCC students were able to dress down, swapping their usual school uniforms for the pajamas of their choice!

unnamed-1Along with celebrating what would be the 111th birthday of a literary genius, students showed their support of PJ’s for Patients, filling one of our collection bins to the brim with 100% cotton pajamas for kids and young adults. Thanks so much to all students of the Hellenic Classical Charter School who participated, and to Principal Tettonis for organizing the event! unnamed-4unnamed-3

Thank you, Kimisis!

Happy March! 🙂

On Wednesday, March 11th, the youth of Kimisis Theotokou Church (pictured above) hosted a Pajama and Movie Night to benefit PJ’s for Patients! These dedicated young people belong to the GOYA, or Greek Orthodox Youth Association, of their church. Along with having weekly meetings and organizing social events, the youth of Kimisis GOYA are engaged members of their community who strive to better the world around them. From their movie night alone, Kimisis GOYA collected 40 pajamas, which will be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House New York and Memorial Sloan-Kettering later this month! PJ’s for Patients would like to say a HUGE thank you to these awesome young people! unnamed-8The GOYA Pajama and Movie Night supplemented an ongoing PJ4P drive that Kimisis Theotokou Church has hosted for the past couple of months. The vibrant Kimisis community has been so supportive of PJ’s for Patients and our message, collecting pajamas and monetary donations to benefit pediatric cancer patients receiving treatments in local hospitals.

unnamed-3The community has raised a total of over $1,000 for the purchase of new, 100% cotton pajamas! We are so, so appreciative of the fantastic work Kimisis has done for PJ’s for Patients, and look forward to more collaborations in the future. A special thanks must also be given to Mrs Peggy Lambrinoudis, a mother, member of Kimisis Church, and Sunday School teacher who organized this entire collaboration. Also, thanks so much to Father Ganas and the youth of Kimisis for publicizing this event!
