December Deliveries and New Year’s Festivities!

From your family at PJ4P, happy New Year! We hope that this year brings you light, warmth, and comfort.

To anyone who has supported us during 2017: thank you. With your help, we’ve delivered over 2,700 pajamas to children and young adults receiving cancer treatments in hospitals away from home. As we approach our fifth year, we aim to continue our work until a cure is found, and similarly look forward to continuing to work with you — our community — throughout this process.

We would like to thank Bay Ridge Cares and Girl Scout Troops 2397, 2736, and 2387 — two of our Brooklyn community partners — for organizing PJ4P fundraisers during the month of December. Bay Ridge Cares is a volunteer-run grassroots organization that seeks to build community in the Bay Ridge area by organizing activities “to help bring our community together”, providing financial assistance to neighbors in need, and engaging in projects both independently and alongside other local organizations to empower members of Bay Ridge to collectively attain the highest possible quality of life for each other and themselves. Bay Ridge Cares has been a supportive partner of PJ4P for over a year, collaborating with us in their Pajama Drive for local pediatric cancer patients and families living in shelters during December 2016 and again this past December.

Last month, Bay Ridge Cares hosted their annual pajama drive, the poster for which is shown to the left. We’re so grateful for the generosity of the Bay Ridge community in organizing and supporting this event. We delivered a portion of the pajamas collected to patients at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Pediatrics Department and the Ronald McDonald House New York. If you live in the Bay Ridge and/or larger Brooklyn area and are looking for ways to meaningfully build community, work alongside your neighbors, and give back in whatever capacity that means for you, we encourage you to  check out their website and Facebook page to learn more.

We’d also like to thank some of our local Girl Scouts (pictured below!) for collaborating with us in their holiday pajama party! All party attendees arrived in cozy pajamas, ready for an evening of dancing, playing games, and working on some creative crafting projects. Their work in spreading the word about PJ’s for Patients culminated in the collection of nearly 50 cotton pajamas which were also delivered to Sloan-Kettering and the Ronald McDonald House.
